Woman, 101, in care home reprieve

The family of 101-year-old Sarah Rutter believe the move could kill her

The sole resident of a Teesside care home who was told she had to move has been given an 11th-hour reprieve.

Stockton Council is in the process of closing Parkview Care Home, but relatives of 101-year-old Sarah Rutter argued that a move could kill her.

Mrs Rutter's family lost a High Court case to prevent her being moved, but an order was granted to let her stay until a further appeal hearing on Wednesday.

Since July, the dementia sufferer has been the only resident at the home.

She is being cared for by 19 staff, at a cost to the council of £7,400 a week.

The last-ditch attempt to get permission to allow her to stay will be heard at the Appeal Court.

Her family want her to remain at the home for the rest of her life, arguing that a move would be a risk to her health.
