Fred Thompson is running for president, and he's doing it in a very unconventional way. After three weeks of hard-hitting conservative commentaries as a guest host on the Paul Harvey radio show, Thompson has now entered the political blogosphere with a smash-hit post at RedState headlined "The Pirates of Tehran," which examines the West's response to the latest hostage-taking by the mad mullahs of Iran.
With one blog post - and the word is it won't be Thompson's last piece at RedState - Thompson stakes out a clear-eyed, tough-minded position on American foreign policy in the age of Islamist terror and a weakening-willed Western Europe. So far, the post has generated more than 200 reader comments, and earned links from almost as many blogs - over a holiday weekend when blog readership tends to dip.
Fred Thompson is a force to be reckoned with.
