Virgin failure interrupts Murray match

BBC HD coverage of Andy Murray's crunch Wimbledon match last night was interrupted for some Virgin Media customers because of a hardware failure.

Several cable viewers reported being unable to tune to the channel during the quarter final which ran from about 6.30pm to 8.10pm.

"Yesterday evening at around 7.50pm a small number of customers in the Croydon area may have been unable to receive BBC HD," the company said in a statement. "This was as a result of a hardware failure.

"We worked to rectify this immediately and the channel was restored shortly after 9pm. We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused."
