Video Obsession: Pitbull featuring Trina and Young Bo$$, "Go Girl"

Wed Jun 18, 2008 at 11:45:37 PM

When I drove up to Chicago last weekend, I listened to the radio more than my CD player. Why? Call me old-fashioned, call me obsessed with the idea of listening to modern country on the open road (shut up), or call me needing peppy top 40 or classic rock to keep me awake on I-55. But in the city, I stumbled upon B96 FM, which is pretty much the best hip-hop station ever -- because it doesn't play the cheesy stuff other stations do.

In the very short time I listened, I heard a choice new Rihanna song ("Disturbia," which features Chris Brown and plenty of awesome electro grooves), C-Side featuring Keyshia Cole doing "Boyfriend Girlfriend" and some amazingly trashy Europop from September called "Cry For You."

September:

Kylie Minogue called and wants her beats back, but I do not care. Amazing.

But the best song I heard?

Pitbull featuring Trina and Young Bo$$, "Go Girl." Good lord, I've watched this YouTube video like twenty-five times in the past four days. I guarantee you that if this came on in a club I was at, I'd "back it up like a Mack Truck," as Ms. Trina says. That groove! That beat! Those sing-song lyrics! (Also, I love her dress in that video.)

Just when I thought top 40/mainstream hip-hop was boring as shit, these songs come around to restore my faith in the disposable pop song. Who wants to go clubbing with me? Seriously. It's been too long, I'm ready to get my dance on.
