Tony Romo dumped Jessica Simpson because of media attention, her dad

Jessica Simpson's relationship with Tony Romo reportedly came to an end because the Dallas Cowboys quarterback was fed-up with the intense media scrutiny that comes from being in Simpson's life and the problems he has with her overbearing father, Joe Simpson.

Rumors that the couple split have been rife all week, but representatives for both Tony and Jessica continue to insist they are still together. And sources say it's likely Romo will keep his promise to escort Jessica to her sister Ashlee Simpson's wedding this weekend to Fall Out Boy rocker Pete Wentz.

A source told the Chicago Sun Times newspaper that the pair "are definitely over" and Romo has explained that he has "really had it'" with being a constant target of the paparazzi and the celebrity press in general, and feels this particular romantic relationship was distracting him from his football career.

And the source adds that Romo is fed-up with Simpson's dad, because he's "not only telling Jessica every move to make, but now has begun to offer unsolicited advice to Tony on his career, endorsement opportunities and things that have nothing to do with him dating Jessica."
