Muxtape works on iPhone
If you are a Web 2.0 fanatic (which, come on, who isn't these days?) then you probably know about Muxtape. For those of you who aren't religiously reading the latest Web application news at DownloadSquad, Muxtape is basically a way to share your personalized mp3 mixtape. Not only can you subscribe to the tape's RSS via iTunes, but it turns out that you can also listen to Muxtapes on your iPhone! Just navigate over to the Muxtape page of your choosing and select a song. Mobile Safari will then load the file and begin to play it like normal mp3 audio. How cool is that?
Thanks for the info, Craig!

This is cool, but would be way better if it would stream songs.
In fact, does anyone know a site that streams music that works on the iphone?

yeah, color me stupid, but I didn't think that was possible (i.e. streaming mp3's via mobile safari). I just used my iPhone to create an account, but now they want me to upload an mp3. Maybe I need to read further into what this site actaully does.

I stand corrected! I've had the iPhone for like three months now, and I'd never seen the QT movie viewer before. Say hello to a new era of my unlimited data plan earning its keep.

I have been using muxtape for a couple of weeks (every since that fluid and muxtape mash-up circulated the web http://internetjogging.com/2008/04/17/23/ a bit back, which really is pretty awesome). I also added a webclip to the iphone and have been using it there, just select one of the playlists from the main page to, select the song you want, wait (especially over edge) and then listen. You dont need an account or to upload mp3 unless you want to make your own playlists or favorite (keep track of) other playlists. Muxtape does rule, especially with fluid but its not to bad on the iphone either. If only it rocked the coverflow on the iphone too

i'm not sitting an a computer w/ itunes on it (i'm at work) - but i believe you can subscribe to rss feeds in itunes.
just go to a muxtape you like, and click on the rss icon, grab the rss feed details (ie, http://usernamehere.muxtape.com/rss), and put the rss feed url into itunes.
this should work.

That's how it should work, but the MP3 files aren't included in the RSS feed, so all you get is text, and iTunes tells you it's not a valid podcast link. Too bad.

You can't subscribe to a Muxtape in iTunes.

The problem with Muxtape is that they're distributing unprotected MP3s that anyone can download and keep.
Expect the RIAA to come knocking at some point.
