Board of Equalization names top tax debtors
Silicon Valley / San Jose Business Journal
California's Board of Equalization added 45 names to its list of top sales tax debtors Tuesday, including six from the Silicon Valley.
The state Board of Equalization said the debts together make up nearly $42 million in sales tax owed to state and local governments.
Recent legislation directs the BOE to post its largest sales and use tax delinquencies after notifying the debtors that their tax liabilities will be disclosed to the public. Taxpayers can have their information removed from the state Web site by paying the amounts in full or by agreeing to make payments.
Local alleged debtors included on the list are: Mann Motor Corp. of San Jose, about $1 million; Linotext America Inc. of Los Gatos, about $616,000; Ultra Fab Technology Inc. of San Jose, about $445,000; Charles R. Hume of Los Gatos, about $382,000; Balbir Kaur Mann of San Jose, about $372,000; and Baby Weryam Singh Mann of San Jose, about $359,000.
